Changi Airport continues to prove itself as the best airport in the world with its stunning design. It features futuristic glass buildings, walkways surrounded by Forest Valley, a lush green space, and a standout attraction — the Rain Vortex, a 40-meter-tall indoor waterfall. This waterfall reuses rainwater collected during monsoon seasons, using an advanced filtration system to keep the water clean at all times.
According to The Straits Times (Singapore’s leading English-language newspaper), Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will begin construction on a new large terminal at Changi Airport in the first half of 2025. The aim is to increase the airport’s capacity by another 50 million passengers.
Currently, Changi can handle up to 90 million passengers per year. Once Terminal 5 is completed — expected to open around the mid-2030s — the airport’s total capacity will increase to 140 million passengers. It will also improve connectivity to over 200 cities worldwide.
Terminal 5 will be technology-driven, designed to support and integrate modern tech such as driverless vehicles and robotic baggage handlers. These features will help automate airport operations, making them more digital and efficient. The goal is to improve the passenger experience and optimize staffing, while also giving local businesses opportunities to grow in new areas.
