7 Great-Phototaking Techniques

It is undeniable that people love to use smartphones to take photos because it is more convenient and more effective, making us not have to carry another heavy camera. However, taking good photos using smartphones is quite difficult and requires a lot of techniques to make the photos look as good as if they were taken by the camera. Knowing preliminary techniques can benefit you.

1. Always wipe the lens for vivid pictures

Since mobile phones are usually touched by hand or kept in people’s pockets and pants pockets, the camera lens is often filled with dirt, dust, and fingerprints. The dirty lens will stain or blur the photos which is not good, so we should keep wiping the lens with a thin cloth for a nice and sharp picture.

2. Look for components of the picture to be taken

The composition of photographs is an important skill in taking pictures of people with landscape backgrounds, which will make the taken pictures more interesting and beautiful. The simple composition is as follows:

  • Balance images with three rules that make images interesting and attractive. If there is too much space in the picture, it can make the whole picture look empty. Therefore, balancing the image and selecting the focus will make the picture more dimensional and outstanding.
  • Create symmetry or picture structure which is to look for beauty and proportions that fit within the photo. If it’s a portrait, it’s recommended to focus on the eyes because the eyes reflect emotions and feelings. If it’s a landscape image, see what the elements within the image are and look for the symmetrical points of the picture to be expressed in a very attractive and searchable way.
  • Looking for the depth of the image is considered an important technique for photographing people with a landscape view. The depth of the image will make the image more dimensional which can be easily done by organizing each part differently such as the distance of the image, color and light, etc.

3. Avoid using flash

Even if the camera has a flash, it often makes the pictures’ quality not that great. If possible, it is recommended to use light from a light bulb or natural light. Unless there is no alternative such as being in a closed place or insufficient light, use the flash.

4. Use a tripod if your hands are not steady

If your hands are not still and the camera phone has a relatively low Shutter Speed and cannot be adjusted, it is recommended to use accessories such as a tripod or vibration dampers to solve the problem of shaking while pressing the shutter.

5. Night Mode is recommended for night-time photography

Many mobile phone models now have Night Mode for nighttime shooting. This mode should be enabled when shooting in low light. This will help make the image brighter and more detailed without setting or adjusting. So convenient and can get the pictures you want without taking too much time.

6. Adjust Exposure and ISO

Exposure and ISO help you to take better low-light photos and get more detail. You should turn the HDR on if the camera supports it. This will make you have good and realistic photos in every light condition.

7. Edit the photo a little or use some filters

The use of filters depends on the preference and satisfaction of each person. The editing of pictures has the advantage of improving the color lighting and sharpness of the images. Currently, there are many free photo editing apps available, but there are also disadvantages such as too much decorating or editing photos in more than 1 app will reduce the quality of the photos.

Once the process is complete, you will get a beautiful picture and you can apply it to friends, cousins, or important people. Those who are very new to phone cameras need to practice these techniques!
