Discount on Ticket Prices
This year’s Songkran is expected to see a bustling movement of Thai people traveling! The Ministry of Transport estimates that there will be 16.32 million people traveling nationwide, especially those driving their own cars, with a total of over 16 million vehicles on highways and motorways. In addition, public transportation, including buses, trains, ferries, and flights, will serve about 15.84 million passengers.

To handle the increased travel demand from April 11-17, 2025, the Ministry of Transport has instructed all relevant agencies to prepare for the busy period, focusing on safety, convenience, and reasonable transportation prices. One main concern is the high price of airline tickets during the festival. The Ministry has discussed with six airlines — Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, and Thai Vietjet — which have agreed to reduce ticket prices by 30% from the established ceiling prices to ease the financial burden on the public.

Additionally, 124 special flights have been added, providing 25,000 seats on popular routes such as:

  • Bangkok–Chiang Mai

  • Bangkok–Phuket

  • Bangkok–Krabi

  • Bangkok–Samui

  • Bangkok–Hat Yai

  • Bangkok–Ubon Ratchathani

  • Bangkok–Khon Kaen

  • Bangkok–Chiang Rai

  • Bangkok–Nakhon Phanom

  • Bangkok–Udon Thani

  • Bangkok–Nakhon Si Thammarat

These special flights will help reduce overcrowding and lower ticket prices during the festival.

Book Discounted Tickets

For anyone planning to travel and looking for affordable tickets, make sure to book early! Reservations will be open from March 11-20, 2025, through the airlines’ direct channels, including their websites, call centers, and ticket counters. The tickets can be used for travel during the peak Songkran period from April 11-17, 2025.

Additionally, the Ministry of Transport emphasized that agencies such as Airports of Thailand (AOT), the Department of Airports (DOA), and the Air Navigation Service of Thailand (Aeronautical Radio of Thailand) will fully facilitate travelers and tourists, making sure that no passengers are left behind.

Travel during this Songkran should be more convenient than ever, with added flights and lower ticket prices helping people travel without worrying about expensive tickets. Plan ahead and book your tickets soon!
