Olympic Shooters who give off a cool vibe and Theng Cha-Cha-Cha (?)

Although there are a lot of sports being held in the Olympic, one of them that went viral on the social media is ‘Shooting’ There are both pistol and rifle matches. The score is measured by allowing the contestants to shoot as close as possible to the midpoint of the shooting target. Though this may not sound difficult, shooting right at the target relies on practicing, understanding, and various techniques in shooting as well. 

Among 340 competitors (170 male competitors and 170 female competitors) ‘Yusuf Dikeç’, a 51-year-old shooter from Turkey, win a silver medal in Mixed 10 metre pistol team. He became a topic that was talked about while the world shared his picture preparing himself before competing. His relaxing gesture while competing, including how he competed without any special equipment such as an earmuff or a pair of glasses specially made for shooting, only himself and his pistol, makes him look like a cool middle-age guy.

He gave an interview about why he didn’t use any equipment, look relaxed, or put one hand in his pocket as well, he said, “My nature and my bloodline are snipers (then a little laugh).” As for the reason why he had his pocket, Yusuf said, “Putting the other hand in his pocket was to give the body a better balance during the shooting.” The difference between Yusuf Dikeç and other contestants has led to a large number of memes about him and his rivals on social media, which has led to more acquaint with this man.

He does not gain skills and abilities through being a shooting athlete only, he was a former military officer with the rank of sergeant major who have retired from combined forces of Turkey. His career path as shooting athlete started when he was 28 years old. Since then, he has entered shooting sports and has won various awards. He is a seven-time European shooting champion. This year, he told the Serbian team (gold medal-winning country) “We lend you that gold medal this year and we’ll take it back in 2028.”
