It is a place located within the island of Ayutthaya, Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya, covering an area of 1,810 rais. It was registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO under the name “Historic City of Ayutthaya and Associated Historic Towns” at the 15th General Meeting of the World Heritage Committee in 1991 in Carthage, Tunisia.
Historic Town of Sukhothai that covers Sukhothai Historical Park, Si Satchanalai Historical Park, and Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park was registered as a World Heritage Site at the 15th General Meeting of the World Heritage Committee in 199 in Carthage, Tunisia, passing the requirements and criteria for considering it as a World Heritage Site as follows:
Criteria number one – It represents a masterpiece made with intelligent creativity
Criteria number three – It confirms the evidence of culture or civilization that appears today or has disappeared.
It is considered one of the important archaeological sites located in Ban Chiang Subdistrict (in Ban Chiang Subdistrict Municipality), Nong Han District, Udon Thani Province, which makes it possible to acknowledge the lives of more than 5,000 years back in prehistoric times. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1960 at the 16th General Meeting of the World Heritage Committee in Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States.
One of the important historical parks in Thailand is located in Si Thep District, Phetchabun Province. It covers ancient sites in the old city of Si Thep with an area of 2,900 rai. It consists of an ancient community in the form of a large city and a group of important archaeological sites that are distinguished from art, architecture, religion, and culture. It was recently registered as a World Heritage Site at the 45th General Meeting of the World Heritage Committee on September 19, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
It consists of two wildlife sanctuaries which are Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary and Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Uthai Thani, Tak, and Kanchanaburi in the west of the country near the Myanmar border. It is the largest protected area in the Indochina Peninsula, and it was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1991 at the 15th General Meeting of the World Heritage Committee in Carthage, Tunisia.
It consists of four national parks and one wildlife sanctuary covering six provinces: Nakhon Ratchasima, Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin ฺฺBuri, Sa Kaeo, and Buriram with a total area of 6,155 square kilometers. It is called “East Forest” in comparison to “West Forest” in the western part of Thailand. It was registered as a World Heritage Site on July 10-17, 2005 in Durban, South Africa.
It is a large forest located in the Tanaosri mountain range and covers 3 provinces which are Ratchaburi, Petchburi, and Prachuap Khiri Khan. It consists of three national parks and one wildlife sanctuary; Kaeng Krachan National Park, Gui Buri National Park, Chaloem Phrakiat Thai Prachan National Park, and Phachi River Wildlife Sanctuary. The total area is 2.5 million rai with a length from the northernmost to the southern end of the area over 200 kilometers. It was registered as a World Heritage Site on July 26, 2021, through an online meeting in Fuzhou, China.
