First-time Parents Should Know! “Child Allowance” & “Child Support” With Updated Conditions

For the first-time parents who are having a baby, from newborn to 6 years old, can apply to receive state welfare money. Let’s see what welfare money there is!

1. Child Support

It is a government program to support the expenses related to newborn babies till 6-year-old kids for the household with lower income or at risk of poverty. The average income of all members in the family not exceeding 100,000 baht/person/year. The government will provide 600 baht/month for each child so that they will be taken care of, have a good quality of life, and have proper development according to age.

Registrant Qualifications

Being a father, mother, other person who raises a newborn
A newborn must live with them
Living in a low income household (Average earning of each member in the household is less than 100,000 baht/person/year)
Parents receive money through a PromptPay-linked account by an ID number.

How to register

Registration can be done in 3 ways as follows:

1. Near-home Agency

Bangkok: Contact at the District office
Pattaya: Contact at Pattaya City Hall.
Provinces: Contact at the Subdistrict Administrative Organization or Municipality.

Documents for registration are as follows:

Registration Request Form (DR.01)
Household Status Certificate (DR.02)
Birth certificate of the newborn
Parents’ Smart Card
Salary certificates or certificates of income of all household members who are employed as public officials, state enterprise workers, or company employees.
A copy of the document or identification card of a public official, card, or any other document indicating the status or positions of the first certifier and the second certifier.

Click at “Examination of a right” or “Monitor Money Receiving Status” Those who have not registered yet need to “Verify Identity” via D.Dopa App. First-time identification is required at the district office, then submit the registration request via the app.

Attach the document in electronic file format as follows:

Evidence of household status certification
Photos of government officials’ cards or any other documents showing the status or positions of the first certifier and the second certifier.
Salary certificates or certificates of income of all household members who are employed as public officials, state enterprise workers, or company employees.

3. Department of Children and Youth Website

Go to the Department of Children and Youth Website, then fill in the ID number of the registrant, ID number of the newborn, click specify the picture verification code, and search for information.

Documents used in receiving Child Support are as follows;

Birth certificate of the newborn
Parents’ Smart Card
Salary certificates or certificates of income of all household members who are employed as public officials, state enterprise workers, or company employees.

2.Child Allowance

Attach the document in electronic file format as follows:

What is Lorem Ipsum?

This is a benefit for insured people under Article 33 and 39. They will receive Child Allowance at 800 baht per month from the Social Security and can withdraw the money up to 3 children per time.

Normally, Social Security’s “Child Allowance” would be transferred to the account at the end of the month. If the end of the month falls on holidays or weekends, it would be transferred to the account in advance not later than midnight.

Terms of Eligibility for Child Allowance

The parent is an insured person under section 33 or section 39 who has paid contributions for at least 12 months within 3 years.

Documents used in receiving Child Allowance

Social Security Fund’s Application for Benefit Compensation Request Form (SPS 2-01)
In the case of female insured exercising right: a copy of the child certificate (in case of giving birth to twins, a copy of the twin’s birth certificate shall be attached).
In the case of male insured exercising right:A copy of the marriage registration, a copy of the divorce registration with an attached note, or a copy of the child certificate or a legal copy of the court’s judgment or order to become a child. (in case of giving birth to twins, a copy of the twin’s birth certificate shall be attached).
If you change your first name or last name, attach a copy of the name change certificate.
In case of foreign insured persons, use a copy of social security card and a copy of passport or temporary passport or certificate issued by the government.
A copy of the first-page savings bank account book containing the name and account number of the applicant through the insured’s bank account.

Place of registration to receive Child Allowance

Can first-time parents apply to receive both?

If they meet the requirements, they can apply for both, which means that they will receive 1,400 baht per month for one child or 100,800 baht in total.

Can first-time parents ask to receive retroactive money?

The insured can apply for child support at the Social Security Office in a convenient area (except the head office) within 2 years from the date of eligibility and only when the child reaches the age of 6 years old.
