The Tourism Authority of Thailand and the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand have announced 18 new Dark Sky Conservation Zones or Amazing Dark Sky #Season 2 to drive experience-based tourism, particularly Dark Sky Tourism. Open a new dimension of travel experience to drive Thai tourism in 2023.
The list of the Dark Sky Conservation Zone consists of 5 Dark Sky Parks, 11 Dark Sky Properties, and 2 Dark Sky Suburbs. The total of new Dark Sky Conservation Zones is 18 places.
The place is ideal for night-time stargazing, where tourists can prepare astronomical instruments to study according to the places, without worrying about the excessive lighting from urban areas.
There are 5 Dark Sky Park as follows;
It is a Dark sky conservation zone in private areas such as resorts, hotels, farms, and learning centers that keep and preserve the night sky for proper darkness by carefully utilizing light, appropriate for use, and do not cause light pollution. It is safe and there are facilities provided for those interested. It is also spreading and raising awareness about the effects of light pollution. There is a darkness value in the sky at a level where celestial objects such as planets, spheres, galaxies, open clusters, or the Milky Way can be observed with bare eyes.
There are 11 Dark Sky Properties as follows;
The Dark Sky Reserve in the suburbs has the characteristic of an open courtyard that can hold sky observation activities. The lighting is carefully used, and suitable for use. It is safe and there are facilities provided for those interested. There is a darkness value in the sky at a level where celestial objects such as planets, spheres, and galaxies can be observed with bare eyes.
