Warning!! Dangerous garbage doesn’t just affect us, it affects everyone in the world. Did everyone notice that these days, the weather in our country or anywhere in the world is not seasonable? Sometimes, there are 3 seasons in a day because the weather changes from hot to raining then cold. Sometimes we are in winter but the temperature is still at 30 degree Celsius or higher till we wonder whether we are actually in winter or not. One of the reasons why the season does not change seasonally is “Garbage”, the near threat that we need to be aware of. Let’s take a look at those dangerous garbages and how each of those garbages affect our world.
It’s very close to us because we have to eat every day. Food waste is leftover food that cannot be consumed or eaten. It may be something left over from consumption such as food that has expired and cannot continue to eat or from fruit skin waste. Today, food from waste has been around 1.3 million years which is more than one-third of the food produced and turned into waste, generating 11.8 percent of greenhouse gas.
According to “Food Wastage Footprint: Impact on Natural Resources” by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO), as we leave food, or we can’t eat up, and yet more than 87 million people around the world are starving. Most Thais prefer to throw food waste together with general waste, making it difficult for them to be sorted out before recycling and disposed of. The use of food waste is therefore difficult.
It’s a time when many people turn to online ordering and enjoy unpacking. Do you know that regardless of parcel boxes, water bottles, and plastic bottles, called “packaging garbage,” are huge amounts of garbage that cannot be numerically told how much has happened!! In addition, the waste from packaging has generated more carbon emissions from packaging factories.
Nowadays, many brands are turning to producing packaging that can be recycled or biodegradable. At present, we are also campaigning to use cloth bags or find other materials to replace the practical use of plastic packages that are effective and suitable for the products and must be environmentally friendly.
It is a very dangerous waste that affects both the environment and humans around the world because electronic devices contain dangerous compounds and sometimes expired or unused electronic devices are mistakenly dumped and mixed into general waste. Toxic substances and chemicals from electronic waste collected in the environment affect soil, water, and air.
The fashion industry also emits up to 10% carbon emissions, and it takes 700 gallons of water to make a cotton shirt, and 2,000 gallons of water to make a pair of jeans. When a large amount of production occurs, the clothes remain and clothing is not biodegradable. The only way to limit this is by burying, which leaves many residues in the soil, resulting in soil damage and degradation.
