It is a stage that brings together Asia’s technology leaders to exchange visions of the future of Thai fintech, digital payment, and the AI role in the modern financial era.
Mr. Rongnarong Sasipongpan, the CEO/Board of Directors of ACU PAY (Thailand) Co., Ltd., was invited to discuss the vision on the stage along with Mr. William Xiong, the CTO of GoTo Group from Indonesia. Mr. Ferdinand Toralde Abella, the AVP and Head of Enterprise Architecture of GCash from the Philippines, and Mr. Yip, Head of International Innovation/AI Solutions of Ant Group (Alipay) from China. Presenting the 4 topics that mirror the new fintech’s AI readiness, AI-powered financial platforms, cross-border collaboration, and enhanced data security through Data Federation. These areas are increasingly important to the development of the digital economy across Asia. Moreover, Alibaba Cloud also invites executives and business leaders to visit the Alibaba Cloud Beijing Pavilion, which is a showcase of advanced technologies, including Ant Group Tspace, which focuses on the development of large-scale data infrastructure, and the Ant Group TianjiAI Security Lab, dedicated to intelligent security and protection technologies.
The opportunity to visit these facilities at the laboratory level reflects the strength of the collaboration and further highlights ACU PAY’s growing role as a Thai fintech company participating in regional collaboration across Asia.
Topic 1: ACU PAY’s Readiness for the AI Era
Question: AI Readiness – Infrastructure and Organizational Preparedness
As organizations prepare for the AI era, what are the most important technical or operational changes required to deploy AI at scale? From your experience, what are the two or three most significant changes ACU PAY has made in areas such as data quality, system integration, or team capabilities to move AI from pilot projects into large-scale production?
ACU PAY is currently creating an AI-driven environment for merchants and consumers nationwide, ranging from personalized promotions to real-time transaction analysis. Many fintechs struggle with moving from AI pilot projects to production. From Mr. Rongnarong (Andy NA)’s experience, what are the two or three most significant changes ACU PAY has made in areas such as data quality, system integration, or team capabilities to move AI from pilot projects into large-scale production?
Answer: “For ACU PAY, adopting AI at the enterprise level is not just about adding new technology to the system, but truly restructuring the organization to prepare for the new world.
First is the data foundation. We are upgrading ACU PAY’s data architecture to be clean, standardized, and capable of real-time processing to support a more accurate Risk Engine and Fraud Detection system.
The next point is infrastructure. We are moving towards a fully Cloud-Native model so that AI can operate instantly in fractions of a second, especially in high-security transactions.
In addition, we place importance on organizational culture, ensuring that all our team members understand that AI does not replace humans, but empowers them to work better, make confident decisions using data, and deliver a better experience to users.
And finally, AI governance. We have established frameworks for transparency, privacy, bias prevention, and regulatory compliance so that ACU PAY’s AI is not only cutting-edge but also reliable and sustainable.
Because for us, AI is not just a tool, but the new foundation of future payment systems, and ACU PAY is ready to step into that future securely and responsibly.”
Topic 2: AI in Action – Real Features from Backend to Frontend
Key Point: Real-time AI-driven features enhancing user experience (area-focused e-wallet with QR payment, merchant promotions, and cross-border usage).
Questions: ACU PAY creates hyper-personalized promotions for consumers and real-time transaction analysis for merchants. Please share one powerful AI feature, such as personalized cashback, behavioral clustering, or automated merchant reporting, that is actively in use today and drives tangible results in terms of user re-engagement or merchant satisfaction.
Answer: “For ACU PAY, our use of AI goes beyond the backend; it is designed to impact the user experience in real-time, from the backend systems all the way to the user’s screen.
In the backend, we use AI to continuously analyze transaction patterns, detect risks, evaluate transaction credibility, and select the optimal processing route every single second. This makes QR payments faster, safer, and more stable. Users might not see it, but they will feel that paying is smoother than ever before.
On the frontend, we use AI to create a more personalized experience. For example, when a user scans a QR code, the AI instantly knows what type of store it is, its location, and the user’s past behavior to speed up payment verification and display promotions that ‘match’ the user’s preferences at that moment.
For merchants, the AI system helps them launch real-time promotions to customers in nearby zones or those who are genuine target groups, clearly increasing conversions for small business owners.
In summary, AI makes ACU PAY’s system not only faster and safer, but also smarter and more personalized for every user.”
Topic 3: 3-Year Roadmap and Vision
Key Point: Strategic priorities and investment scope for AI development.
Question: Mr. Rongnarong (Andy NA), looking ahead over the next 3 years, what is one AI capability and vision you envision that could significantly improve or reduce user experience, operational costs, or risk management? And what is the biggest practical challenge you face in making these work at scale?
Answer: “Over the next three years, ACU PAY’s AI investment direction will not just be about developing new technology, but building a foundation for the entire organization to grow fully in the AI era.
We have three main strategic priorities:
First, preparing data structures and foundational systems for AI. We will invest in Data Pipelines, real-time processing systems, and architectures that support large models to ensure AI operates accurately, transparently, and scalably.
Second, developing AI that directly impacts users. This includes upgrading the QR Payment experience, personalization recommendation systems, and intelligent tools for merchants, all operating in real-time to create greater convenience, speed, and relevance.
Third, expanding AI into regional cross-border payment systems. From risk management systems and exchange rates to dynamic fee structures to support future connections with neighboring countries.
Overall, ACU PAY’s investment in AI will focus on infrastructure, people, and products so that we become the smartest, safest, and most value-creating payment platform in the region within three years.”
Topic 4: Cross-Border Collaboration – What is Possible?
Key point: Joint database to enhance safety in testing AI-driven cross-border remittance products.
Question: Mr. Rongnarong (Andy NA), as a regional fintech leader, how do you see the opportunities for cross-border AI collaboration? Can we share models, infrastructure, or even common standards, particularly in fraud detection, language processing, or financial inclusion?
Answer: “When it comes to cross-border collaboration, the most important thing is having a secure, consistent, and truly interoperable data foundation between countries.
For ACU PAY, this strong data foundation enables us to collaborate with partners in neighboring countries to test and develop AI-driven cross-border remittance products more safely and transparently.
Our approach begins with principled risk data sharing. Under proper regulatory oversight, our AI can learn transaction patterns from multiple markets, helping detect anomalies, prevent fraud, and identify suspicious behavior even before transactions actually occur.
The next step is joint testing through regional regulatory sandboxes. By structuring data and APIs consistently, we can simulate virtual cross-border remittance scenarios, allowing AI to choose appropriate transaction routes, predict exchange rates, and assess risks in real time.
And finally, by building a trusted cross-border payment ecosystem together by establishing shared standards for privacy, model transparency, and compliance, we believe ACU PAY can help drive AI-driven cross-border remittances to be faster, safer, and more reliable for everyone.”
