Rank the World’s Most Powerful Passport Countries

Let’s take a look at the world’s most powerful passport ranking for the first quarter of 2024 by the Henley Passport Index. What countries are there on the ranking and which rank is Thailand? Let’s see.

The Henley Passport Index is the only index based on special information from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA) to determine which country’s passport can travel to other countries and areas “without visa requirement” most.

The benchmark index includes 199 passports and 227 travel destinations. This year, six countries ranked first in the world’s most influential passport for the first time since its ranking.

This year, there are 6 countries ranked first in the world’s most powerful passport, consisting of France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain. These 6 countries can travel to their destinations up to 194 countries from 227 countries without visa application.

Next, the second most powerful passport consists of Finland, Sweden, and South Korea. These countries can travel to their destinations up to 193 countries

The third are Australia, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands. These countries can travel to their destinations up to 192 countries

The fourth are Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Portuguese, and the United Kingdom. These countries can travel to their destinations up to 191 countries

The fifth are Greece, Molta, and Switzerland. These countries can travel to their destinations up to 190 countries

Thailand is ranked 63 along with Bolivia. Thailand’s ranking has risen from last year, traveling to 82 countries without a visa application.

The most advanced country increasing its own passport influence, “The United Arab Emirates”, ranked 11th this year, spending 10 years increasing visa-free destinations from 77 to 183 this year, which is a 106 increase.

Christian Klein, president of Henley and Partners, said in a statement that although the general trend over the past two decades has been toward more freedom of travel, the gap with countries at the bottom of the table is widening.

Klein said the average number of destinations travelers can access without a visa nearly doubled from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024.

However, the top-ranked country now has 166 more destinations that can travel to without a visa application than last-ranked Afghanistan which is ranked in the 104. Afghanistan can travel to only 28 countries without visas.
